REGISTRATION FOR THIS CLASS HAS BEEN CLOSED
Prerequisite: Certified MAT Specialist with at least 6 months post-graduate experience.
Description: This course places an emphasis on the advanced evaluation of the Upper Body using the MAT knowledge and skills obtained in the Jumpstart and Specialist programs. There will be a good mixture of lecture and practical application.
Course Objectives include:
- Understanding the difference between “Basic” and “Advanced”.
- A Review of Minimum MAT Technical Competencies.
- Improving the Interpretation of an Upper Extremity Comparative Assessment of Mobility (CAM).
- Providing a Pathway for moving current skills towards advanced skills.
Course Goals:
- Define what constitutes the Human Upper Extremity.
- Identify the Levers and Joints of the Upper Extremity.
- Identify and Discuss the Muscles of the Upper Extremity.
- Explore the Mechanical Relationships between the Axial and Appendicular Skeletons.
- Explore “Thinking Mechanically”.
- Take a Closer Look at the AMC&S Manual Muscle Test.
- Take home self-directed tools for implementing and expanding on the concepts and principles presented.
