Broadview University has collaborated with MAT® to deliver an online pathway towards an MAT® certification. We now have two Specialist Program opportunities offered online with a lab component.

Now approved: Broadview University is now offering a 12-month certificate in Muscle Activation Techniques.

This 36 college credit program to becoming an MAT® Specialist can be completed in as few as 4 quarters. This program is offered online with a lab component at the end of each quarter. This program is 4 quarters over the course of 12 months: Lower Body, Upper Body, Trunk and Spine, and Cervical, Hand/Foot. Financial aid is available for those who qualify.

Single subject MAT® online module courses are also available.  Four modules are offered each leading to an individual subject certification: Lower Body, Upper Body, Trunk and Spine, and Cervical, Hand/Foot. The MAT® Online Modules can be completed at an individual pace within a 12 week period. Each module culminates with a required, two-day lab at the MAT® headquarters in Denver, Colorado.

OBJECTIve

The objective of the Muscle Activation Techniques® certification modules is to provide an understanding of the MAT® skill-set to students who have knowledge in the health and fitness field. Each module studies the MAT® approach to assessment and correction of muscular imbalances in the human body. Students are trained on the MAT® tools used to identify restrictions in joint instability relating to muscle tightness and weakness. Students gain an understanding of the unique systematic format provided through Muscle Activation Techniques® in order for them to help their clients function with maximum efficiency and balance out the muscular system.  Completing the online modules’ coursework, two-day lab, and passing the certification exam will allow students to become certified in their respective disciplines and provide more in-depth assessments to their clients.

  • Getting MAT® certified in specific disciplines (i.e. Lower Body, Upper Body, Trunk and Spine, and Cervical, Hand/Foot) will help you differentiate yourself from other health industry professionals.
  • After taking an MAT® certification program you will be able to address a void in the conventional rehabilitation and exercise protocols.

WHAT WILL I LEARN in the courses?

  • You will learn how to assess and address muscular imbalances within the section of the body that you are working with.
  • You will learn specific activation techniques and be expected to learn all attachment sites and bony landmarks along with the specific isometrics for specific areas of the body.
  • You will explore the complexity of the muscular system’s role in injuries and performance enhancement.

Here are a few things you should know as you consider registering for these modules:

  • Suggested completion time for the single subject modules is 12 weeks.
  • All registrants are required to have successfully completed and passed the online coursework prior to attending the required two-day lab.
  • Weekend certification workshops require a minimum of 10 participants. In the event of low enrollment, registrants will have the opportunity to schedule the next available two-day lab.
  • The Lower Body and Upper Body module course have received NASM CEU approval for 1.9 CEU’s
  • The Lower Body Module and the Upper Body Module have been approved for 10 CEU credits by the American Physical Therapy Association Colorado Chapter (COAPTA)
