In order to become a MAT Practitioner you must first obtain certification. Certification can be obtained by completing the required course work and attending an in-house certification event. Once the necessary requirements have been met and you have passed your test, you are officially MAT certified.

Please note: The Jumpstart Training Program does not offer certification. Taking Jumpstart does not make you certified MAT Practitioner.

Prior experience is not necessary to get started however it is highly recommended that those without prior experience begin with our Jumpstart Training Program before taking our advanced MAT courses. We recommend this Jumpstart first so that you may gain a solid understanding of the principles and building blocks of MAT before moving onto our advanced courses and certifications within the MAT Program.

We highly recommend our Jumpstart Training Program for those that have no prior experience in the spaces of health, wellness, and fitness before moving onto our advanced MAT education. The Jumpstart Training Program contains the building blocks and principles from which Muscle Activation Techniques was founded upon. Although Jumpstart offers no certification, the techniques within Jumpstart have been proven to be effective and valuable any every level of ones career.

For those with professional experience we recommend starting with Muscle Activation Techniques which is our premier and core education.

Our Approach

Modalities across the health and wellness industry claim to “activate muscles.” The techniques within our process can definitively assess if a muscle is activated.

What Is A MAT Practitioner

Through assessing the function of each individual muscle and its relationship to total body function, MAT Practitioners are able to address isolated weaknesses in order to improve total body muscle performance.

Identify Weakness

MAT Practitioners are able to assess an individual client’s neuromuscular function by performing a series of mobility tests and then correlating the limitations in range of motion with muscle tests that can identify which specific muscles are not contracting efficiently.

Image link

Activate Muscles

Once a muscle weakness is identified, MAT Practitioners are trained to precisely “Activate” each muscle weakness through either isometric contractions or specific force application to the origin and insertion points of the affected muscle.

Image link

Restore Function

Clients report that their original symptoms greatly decrease after only a few MAT sessions because the Practitioner worked to re-establish and strengthen the connections between the nervous system and the muscular system for their specific and or unique scenario.

Life is Going To Beat You Up & You'll Need Someone To Put You Back Together

MAT Practitioners have a deep understanding on how isolated muscle function can contribute to the total body integrated system. MAT looks at the integrated system by breaking it down into its isolated parts.

MAT utilizes manual muscle testing in order to determine if muscles are inhibited and if they need to be activated. When it has been determined through muscle testing that a muscle is inhibited, the next step in the MAT process is to activate those muscles through either muscle specific isometric contractions or manual palpation at the origin and insertion of the associated muscle. Once this activation technique has been performed, then the MAT practitioner will retest the associated muscle in order to determine if the activation technique actually worked.

This form of checks and balances is the only way to really determine if a muscle is inhibited, then if inhibited, it enables the practitioner to determine if the activation technique worked
