Christian Phillips was born and raised in Los Angeles, CA but has roots in Texas, as he attended the University of West Texas A&M, where he played defensive back on a football scholarship. There he attained a Bachelor of Arts degree with an emphasis on Sports and Exercise Science. Prior to joining The Move Project, Christian owned and operated Muscle Activation South Bay and has been a professional fitness trainer in Los Angeles for more than 15 years – but he’s no regular trainer. Christian is an award-winning, Master Certified Muscle Activation Technique Specialist (MATm) and a Master Certified Resistance Training Specialist (RTSm), using exercise mechanics to help improve performance.

Christian’s science-based, strategic approach has helped people from 9 to 90 (years old) get the most from their bodies by evaluating and assessing their muscular systems and creating customized training plans to yield the best results for each one’s specific needs and goals. Utilizing his specialized MAT skill set, he serves clients with various needs, ranging from post-rehabilitation, and general fitness, to collegiate and professional athletes in the NCAA, NFL, CFL, MLB and AVP.

A true student of MAT and the anatomy of the human body, Christian is ever-learning, and uses his knowledge to help others. He is an authoritative consultant to health clubs and personal trainers, and conducts learning sessions on MAT for individuals who want to learn more about how exercise mechanics relate to muscular function and the impact they have on movement and high-level performance.
