Scott McWilliam is the owner and founder of Golf MATchanics™, a Muscle Activation Techniques™ facility and golf-focused strength coaching Facility located in Glenview, Illinois. Golf MATchanics serves golfers throughout the North Shore of Chicago, including Glenview, Northbrook, Wilmette, Winnetka, Glencoe, Highland Park, Deerfield, Lake Forest, Skokie, Evanston, Morton Grove, Niles, Lincolnwood, Park Ridge, Kenilworth, and surrounding communities.
Scott’s work is built around one core belief: muscle function comes first.
Through Muscle Activation Techniques™, Scott helps golfers better understand how their muscular system influences mobility, rotation, stability, sequencing, power, and consistency. Rather than simply chasing flexibility, swing positions, or short-term fixes, Scott focuses on identifying how well individual muscles are contracting, communicating, and contributing to movement, and most importantly building strength to combat muscle loss as we age.
His philosophy is simple: better isolated muscle performance creates better integrated performance. When individual muscles can do their job more effectively, the body has a better chance to rotate, separate, stabilize, generate force, and repeat motion with more control during the golf swing.
At Golf MATchanics, Scott offers multiple Muscle Activation Techniques™ options to meet the needs of different golfers and bodies, including MATRx2, MATRx NuEx Stem, MAT Athlete and soon MAT 43. Each level of MAT provides a different way to assess, challenge, and improve the muscular system, allowing the approach to be customized based on what the golfer’s body needs, how it responds, and what level of performance or support they are looking for.
Scott also places a strong focus on building strength for golf. Once the muscular system is functioning better, strength coaching becomes the next step in helping golfers build control, stability, power, and durability. The goal is not just to get stronger in the gym, but to build usable strength that supports better movement, better rotation, and better performance on the course.
Scott’s work is focused on serving the golf community, especially aging golfers who want to keep their body strong enough to continue playing at a high level. His approach is especially valuable for golfers over 40 who want to regain distance, reduce stiffness, improve rotation, move with more confidence, and keep playing the game they love for years to come.
